I am a highly qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor,\u00a0educated with a master\u2019s
degree in psychotherapeutic counselling from the university of Cambridge and fully BACP registered.
I have\u00a0provided one to one and group therapeutic support to many adults, children, young people
and their families over the course of twenty plus years in a variety of roles, including within
children\u2019s social care, edge of care, fostering, children\u2019s homes, reunification, adoption, Domestic
violence, school settings, including critical incidents as well as private individual adults, children and
families.
My approach is Integrative psychotherapeutic counselling which draws on techniques from different
types of therapy to tailor an approach specifically for you or your child.
As an integrative counsellor I believe that there isn\u2019t just one therapeutic approach that can help a
client in all situations. Instead, I consider you or your child as an individual as are your
circumstances. I use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with difficulties
you may be experiencing.
This focuses on you rather than the counsellor being the expert on yourself and aims to help you
reach your full potential that I will help you achieve, by accepting and valuing you, being honest and
transparent with you and offering you unconditional positive regard.
Above and beyond anything else, I believe that in order to be able to process difficult experiences,
creating a context of emotional and physical safety during\u00a0therapy\u00a0sessions is paramount. It\u2019s a key
component in building a trusting\u00a0therapeutic relationship\u00a0and ensuring that the therapy process is
reparative rather than re-traumatising.
One of the fundamental ways that this is important is that I can then help clients distinguish the past
from the present, giving them the sustained and predictable experience of feeling safe. In the past
often nothing felt safe, in the present they have a voice and, therefore, more control over the
degree to which situations and their relationships are safe for them. This can go a long way towards
rebuilding a sense of empowerment and control over your life and help you or your child begin to
use more appropriate coping skills moving forward.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
